As creative collaborator to many of the world's greatest designers, Ranjana Khan has applied her techniques, skill, and obsession with detail to produce some of the most iconic and memorable jewelry, accessories, and embellishments of the last 10 years. Now, with her own eponymous collection of jewelry and accessories, she brings this unique vision and insight to an audience entirely her own.
Growing up in Bombay, Ranjana's obsession with beautiful embellishments began at an early age. At 17, Ranjana became a fashion model, traveling the world and expanding her creative vision in the process. For the last ten years, she has worked with many of the world's greatest couturiers and fashion designers—from Jean-Paul Gaultier to Alber Elbaz—providing concepts, techniques, and inspiration to achieve intricately detailed pieces executed in surprising ways.
Ranjana subverts the entire idea of what jewelry can and cannot be. She treats precious things in an almost cavalier way—using acid and flame to achieve a desired look. There are no rules or preconceptions to her work. She mixes hard and soft, applying disparate elements in striking combinations that often convey an emotion or tell a story. She views every collection as a departure from the previous, each season embarking on a creative journey that ultimately yields her inventive and eclectic creations. And though her designs are bravely new, they are at once timeless, designed with the aim of being worn, cherished, and passed on for generations to come.
